Legend of Herules: 7 out of 10
Good story, quite a few things that didnt make sense... still not sure why you'll worry about a false marriage after seeing a guy throw huge rocks like pebbles. Had a bit of God of War in that one. Also seems like it took allot parts of history and meshed them together to make up the story, as far as Cities, Armor and so forth. It is a story by names only, the rest of it is nothing like the Mythology. Its a good chance the writers and director just werent aware and "it all looked the same to theme". Worth the watch, regardless.

I enjoyed this one. I like the gladiator-type movies personally plus some demi-god action makes it a good watch especially when they tap into their power like Hercules finally did. I recommend this one to those who enjoy these type of movies.

Humanity
What problems does humanity face today? War, poverty, starvation, disease, corruption, slavery, manipulation, death, suffering, misery, food, clothes, shelter. In other words no different than Roman times or 5000 years ago or 10,000 years ago. So nothing has changed the human condition remains as it has always been the struggle for survival. I wasnt insulting but it is is Historical Truth Huns never went beyond mud and stick huts nomads with no land or language which cant possibly be compared to Romans.

So in essence we are not more advanced on contrary we are less. Modern world is but a faint distant relic of the Roman Empire. Whether that be in government, law, fairness, or economy. A faint distant idea that remains what romans spread throughout Europe 1600 years ago. Romans conquered and made citizens classical people conquered and enslaved.

Jet engines and xrays were not build overnight by one person that is the natural course and development of knowledge and technical expertise. A lot of artists and sculptors today can not match works of the ancient world.

Let me ask you this. On the Chamber of the King on the Great Pyramid of Giza there are two blocks of granite that weight about 60 tons each right near the top. Even the most powerful and sophisticated cranes in the world can not even lift half that size. How do you suppose they moved such weight to such height? Modern builds are cheap crude functional construction with very to little aesthetic build more out of function than beauty.

Do you understand that modern western civilizations are but a distant relic of the Roman Empire. From your language culture art science government, social political economical military systems all all but distant and faint though of the Roman Empire. Huns lol. The Huns never went beyond mud and stick huts savage nomads who didnt even have language but communicated in grunts like savage cave men.

Yes we have ballistic missiles, power of the atom, computers, space travel, jets, and rocket engines and these are revolutionary technological achievements. But we are not more advanced or technologically advanced than Ancient man was. Civilization has been in decline not advancing. Like I said there is and does not exist a country or civilization today that can rival Rome in government or economic system fairness or morality of laws. Bunch of Barbarians? Those barbarians brought the world logic and reason and democracy and sculpture and art and language and astronomy governmental system, law systems, military systems etc etc foundation necessary to create civilizations. People in Egypt or classical times or roman times had a purpose and meaning modern man can not dream of.

Ah yes we are modern look at the world around you mate mere slaves to be taxed no purpose no meaning no real direction in life just consumed by greed selfishness and fill their empty souls with cheap useless worthless shit. No meaning or real purpose in life. That tells you something about modern world. Ah yes who in the right mind would compare Modern Cities to Classical temples or Rome.

So advanced with jets and rocket engines and nuclear warheads but yet 3000 years and counting no one can carve a classical column free hand. lol Mind you thats the simplest and the most basic block of classical architecture. Why because we do not have the necessary outlook and perception of the physical world and universe ancient man possessed.

There are a lot of theories but it is theorized that the Pyramids used to harvest electromagnetic energy generated from the earth, creating all sorts of energies and some say they would open gateways to other dimensions and universes. Things we can not begin to comprehend.

Today is better because leaders and Presidents use media and tv to brainwash the masses. lol people are more brainwashed and stupid today than they were 5000 years ago. haaa At least then a solider had a purpose a sculptor had a purpose a king had a purpose a farmer had a purpose Now humans are mere brainless tax paying consumers to be exploited and used by humans who rule and bleed them dry. Just look at banking system Money created out of thin air. WoW the Romans would really be laughing their ass off.

Lol, why are you insulting the Huns?
Do you even understand that the person I was debating said that ancient Romans and others did NOT build their own civilization without extraterrestrial or heavenly aid?

I was giving credit to the Romans for building their own civilization and that their ancient technology was not so advanced that they could not build it themselves! If we could build our world with more advanced technology, then the ancients did the same by themselves.

Anyway, the Romans aren't laughing their butts off because their empire is dead and gone! There was plenty of corruption, brutality and taxes and real slaves. I guess sustaining an economy by invading the world and military expansionism didn't work out for them. Should we still have sadistic emperors who crucify people and feed them to lions in a public arena?

Do you seriously think someone carving a classical column freehand is superior to someone building and engineering a jet aircraft? A rocket scientist is inferior to a sculptor? Our modern doctors using X-rays and surgical techniques aided by computers & machines must be incompetent compared with brutal ancient medical techniques! That must be why happy ancient people lived to the ripe age of 30!

We don't carve things by hand as much as we used to because we created machines to do those tasks. That's the same reason why we don't craft swords for the battlefield like we used to because we invented automatic firearms. Those ancient techniques became OBSOLETE to be preserved by hobbyists. On the other hand, creating the ultimate robot requires technological and aesthetic brilliance in itself.

We don't build coliseums the ancient ways because they wouldn't pass modern inspection safety codes and we need all that electrical wiring for big screen tv's and stadium lighting. (Those poor ancient Romans couldn't watch lions devour christians on instant replay.) Today we have modern skyscrapers with metal infrastructures that bend with the wind. You know nothing about architecture if you can't recognize the ingenuity behind building many modern skyscrapers. New construction and engineering techniques developed to meet the higher standards and needs of our times.

All the great ancient civilizations had the most advanced technologies in their time so the standards that made them great are the same standards that make our modern computerized world technologically superior to theirs. In a thousand years in the future, they will look back at the technology of this era the same way as we look back at ancient Rome & China.

If you hate technology & mechanization then you might as well say that the cavemen were the greatest generation of humans in history!

@charlesx1 - That is precisely the problem we think we are advanced and have great civilizations we dont we dont even have stable and laws and economic system let alone match or surpass the ancient people. Do you seriously believe they moved 5 ton and 10 ton and 60 ton blocks of granite and marble with horse drawn sleds? Do you know what the antikythera mechanism is? An English team did 3d scan of it and they say it has more gears and more complicated than top of the line Swiss watch.

Ancient Man would be regarded by us as a God not the other way around. Modern civilizations are fairly young we just emerged from dark ages 400 years ago we started the technological revolution less than 100 years ago and global economy and social and political order is on the verge of collapse. You want to understand just how they viewed the world?

Go on google and search for classical column, or doric column, open images. Now carefully observe the column, follow it from the bottom to the top look at its shape, details. For some reason when you look at it you like it it is very appealing and nice to look at? but why? What makes the classical columns so appealing to us. The column was build in such a way that the diameter at the bottom is in direct proportion to the diameter at the top, and diminution rate or narrowing rate is in direct proportion to those two diameters and column height. There is perfect mathematical harmony, the column narrows by following the growth rate in nature. So when we observe the column we like it because our subconscious mind looks at it sees the mathematical relations and finds it nice to look at because of the mathematical harmony. We do not know or understand any of the technical details when you look at the column but the subconscious mind it is provoked and sees and understands and that is why we like it and find it nice to look at. HOw did ancient man come up with such a complex and intricate form? How did they achieve such mathematical and visual understanding of the physical world? More important how is that they can speak to the subconscious mind and provoke it through forms and shapes? To this day No one has been able to carve free hand a classical column and its channels. It is Impossible. This is because classical Man observed the world in a greater perspective they saw the physical world in shapes and forms a perception and level of consciousness we can not even dream about. We cant even Match the Romans let alone other more developed civilizations.

I never said we are so advanced. We are simply more advanced than ancient civilizations.

Worship or Match the Romans? Attila the Hun sure didn't worship the Romans as Gods nor did he fear them. Attila would have been afraid of a being attacked by robotic drones and machined gunned by an Apache helicopter! You should ask why the Romans couldn't duplicate an F-22 Raptor fighter jet! I bet that would have awed a bunch of barbarians more than classical shapes in architecture. I guess the Romans thought the technology to engineer a super fighter jet was too easy and a waste of time.

In fact, ALL the great civilizations were constantly being attacked by superstitious barbarians who clearly didn't think having big monuments made them supernatural!

And stable laws and economic system? Those Ancient civilizations all collapsed and were destroyed from within and from outside forces. We are supposed to LEARN from their MISTAKES and not follow the same path to self destruction.

The FUTURE as seen in science fiction movies shows how much FARTHER we have to go to having technology like teleportation, matter replicators, warp speed, exploration to the farthest ends of the universe. THAT is ADVANCED Science beyond our current capabilities.

Ancient civilization building large hand sculptures showed the ingenuity of THEIR time but we are far more advanced than they are. The ancients hand sculpted monuments with massive human labor but they cannot build glass and metal super skyscrapers like we do with just human labor.

We even have MAN-MADE ISLANDS in Dubai built purely for our amusement. We replicate ancient monuments for our amusement. The Ancient Egyptians would obviously be incapable of replicating the Pyramid shaped Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas.

You have to be blind not to recognize the achievement of having satellites in space, walking on the moon, jet planes breaking the sound barrier, computer technology, nuclear submarines. All of which the ancients could only dream of. Our digital visual and audio communication of today would astonish them!

The ancients rarely lived past 30-40 years old because their medical science was primitive compared to ours. If they had access to advanced alien technology, they would at least live as long as we do if not longer. Humans would never ask a super advanced race for the technology to build monuments. LOL!

We would ask for medical miracles (fountain of Youth, cure for all diseases) or military super weapons. Roman military technology could barely keep barbarians on horseback at bay. You figure they needed that more than classical architecture.

We wouldn't ask a scientifically advanced being how to build monuments. We'd ask them how to build robots to build the monuments for us.

Ancients had kites and horse drawn chariots while we have Airplanes, space shuttles, bullet trains and automobiles. Including having vaccines to diseases they died from. We are the EVOLUTION of their achievements.

Advanced civilizations are in the future not the past.
If you think the past is so advanced, throw away your computer and never use the internet. Ride horses and camels instead of planes and cars. Never use an electrical outlet. Avoid modern medicine and treat diseases the way they did. Then you will live like the ancients did and die as early as they did.

From China to Egypt to Rome, Ancient rulers used the fear of the supernatural to awe the uneducated masses into worshipping them. What cannot be explained to the primitive mind appears to be gifts from heaven.

The educated elite scientists, architects and engineers in service to the Emperors thru-out history always knew better than the peasants.

Bronze Age
It is not Entirely Mythology and it is not Greek Mythology for that matter. What you call Greeks/Hellenes only showed in the region 900-800Bc. Here is what I know. There is some truths and there is some made up aspects of ancient mythology. The most ancient civilizations in the world bronze age and earlier whether in Japan China Europe Middle East Babylon Sumeria etc worshiped two types of deities. Snake and Solar deities. Those are the most ancient deities and believes in human history. Now we see Civilizations such as Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations which we have no idea where they came what race they were where went. Also Crete has been populated by many civilizations as far back as 100,000 BC. Egyptian Royalty settled in Crete around 900 BC they from there they invaded the Peloponnese and created what was called the Hellenic Empire that is what is historically correct called Greece and Greeks. The original Inhabitants and the race of the Dorians were Pelasgic race. Dorian themselves wrote that they fought off the invaders of their ancestors lands. Meaning the fought against the Hellens who earlier had invaded the Peloponnese. but latter on the Dorians were assimilated and were one of the 4 Hellenic tribes. That is why we see Attic Greek, Doric Greek, Ionic Greek, Aetolian Greek, Cretan Greek these are different tribes different races some who adopted attic greek and modified it.

Going back to the gods all ancient civilizations believed that at one point reptilian half man half fish half man half snake half man half animal ruled the earth. These gods were the inhabitants of earth before man kind showed up. Egyptians, Babylonians, Sumerians, Mayans, Indian, Japanese, Chinese Hellenic all say same thing. Athens was discovered by a half man half snake being. These were called fertility gods Romans also worshiped them.

In origin Zeus was the supreme Sun God, he was knowledge peace and prosperity. Zeus Poseidon Athena these were called the Heavenly gods different from the half man half snake gods more powerful. It is natural Mythology evolved over time from worshiping the sun then we get Zeus and the other gods. Whether Zeus is a real divine being it is unclear the Babylonians worshiped the flying bird god and Egyptians also had very complex and colorful mythology. from RA who also was Supreme sun god, the half man half wolf, half man half bird half man half lion. These are seen throughout the globe.

Greeks called him Heracles romans named him Hercules the Pelasgians called him something else, it is a pretty good chance someone very skillful and very powerful called Hercules lived during the bronze age, they might have exaggerated some things but it is very likely he was real. Now as for Spartans they were real descendants of the Dorians who came from north around 800-700 BC and settled in Peloponnese. That is when we see the rise of Doric architecture. Coincidentally Doric Architecture is believed to have originated some time 900 BC first temples were dedicated to supreme sun God Zeus and were made out of wood.

Human history as early as middle ages is full of Gods, daemons, snakes, half humans half something else, strange beings, giants, flying beings, superhuman etc etc. Based on ancient structures such as the pyramids the zigurats in babylon even the classical temples the perfection and construction is beyond human. Either ancient Man was so evolved and had such deep and profound understanding of the universe we can not possibly imagine today or some beings helped ancient man. Construction of Pyramids, scale, perfect astronomical aliment, alignment with the equinoxes cutting moving placing of rocks impossible to be done by ancient man with crude tools.

Classical temples Absolute divine mathematical perfection. Not only that but they corrected the optical flaw in the human vision by building temples purposely slanted and uneven so when the human eye looks at it it looks straight. I have studied classical architecture for 2 years the degree of perfection and mathematical precision and aesthetically and functionally it is beyond humanity. Either Ancient man was a supper evolved different being than us today or outside forces taught them and helped them.

"Either Ancient man was a supper evolved different being than us today or outside forces taught them and helped them."

Haha, that's funny!

You do realize that if we took ancient man on a private plane or helicopter and flew him above New York City's illuminated skyline filled with our metal & glass skyscrapers with our highways filled with the flashing headlights of thousands of automobiles... they would worship us as GODS?

Ancient man would instantly realize that their ancient world with horse-drawn war carriages & wooden ships are no match for our fighter jets that can break the sound barrier, killer robotic drones and nuclear submarines that can blow up entire continents.

The achievements of ancient man are testaments to their ingenuity just as our modern world are testaments to modern man's genius.

Unless the typical ancient home has a 60" LED flat screen tv, a 27" iMac computer and laptop, a Sony Playstation and several iPhones, two cars and a motorcycle in their garage… I would find their lifestyle rather primitive.

The ancients imagined Hercules and wrote his story on scrolls or papyrus to be passed around by hand.

We imagine the stories of Hercules or the Terminator and film their stories in HD along with computer animation to be distributed worldwide on DVD or watched from anywhere in the world on something called... the internet.

Parents of Herakles...
The parents of Hercules include the mortal couple who raised him and his divine father Zeus. Hercules was conceived by Alcmene, the wife of Amphitryon, king of Thebes, while Amphitryon was away. Alcmene was not deliberately being unfaithful. Rather, the king of the gods, Zeus, had disguised himself as Amphitryon and had sexual relations with her. Zeus extended the night so that it was much longer than normal. In the course of the night Amphitryon returned. As a result of Amphitryon's also having sexual relations with Alcmene in that extended night, Alcmene gave birth to twin boys Hercules and Iphicles.

Okay, so they basically took the plot from the movie Gladiator and switched Russel's character for Hercules, and thus this movie. You can pretty much guess everything that happens beforehand, and DON'T expect another Gladiator, because this movie is good for a 1 time watch but there's not really a lot there PLUS you've seen it before IN Gladiator, lol. Legend of Imagination
This Movie is more fake and historically incorrect than the actual history of Greece. First of there was no Greece in 1200 BC. The word Greek and Greece derives from latin Graecians. Hellenic empire rose around 900 800 BC in Crete with King Minos of Crete who was the first Hellenic ruler. Then from there they spread into the Peloponnese. Also Attic Greek as a language was based from Hebrew and Phonetician Alphabet which means the early Hellenic rulers were of Egyptian Royalty like King Minos.

There Was no Sparta in 1200 BC. Spartans were Dorians who came from the North North East of Greece and settled in the Peloponnese proably 800-700 BC that is when we see the rise of Doric Architecture. Dorian Tribes brought doric architecture into the Hellenic Empire.

Zeus seduced the Spartan queen in the form a swan. Corinthian helmets like the guy who wears at the beginning did not exist till 500-450 BC. Those who have seen the Move Troy and Hectors helmet those are more accurate helmets for the Bronze Age.

to eternal chaos: i understand that, my point being, it is stupid to try and compare a fictional movie to a fictional tale, of a myth, and then claim that it is incorrect or fake, of course it is fake, dont be ignorant. These movies are made for entertainment, not for fact based history stories.

to hrroach: 47 ronin was based off true events that happened but it did not happen like the movie. watch the ending to that movie again.

wow, it is a fictional movie, maybe you were looking for a "history of greek mythology" movie or something what did you expect from a movie thats intention was to tell a different version of what was already a myth to begin with?

Also how about 47ronin saying it is based on a true story and has a witch that turns into a snake/dragon.... Did you believe the hobbit was real?
